SCAD Equestrian Stable
Lynch Associates Architects
2015 AIA Award for Design Excellence Winner
This new facility, a 2015 AIA Award for Design Excellence winner, provides stalls for up to 52 horses and also includes offices, vet facilities, tack rooms, locker rooms, wash stalls and a much needed meeting room, which can be used either for receptions or classroom space.
The structure, built for the prestigious equestrian studies program at SCAD, consists of heavy timber framing with exposed connections. Much attention was given to the visual impact of the exposed steel gusset plates and fasteners, as to not detract from the traditional architecture.
