Named Clubhouse of the Year by Golf Inc. magazine
Home of the RBC Heritage Tournament, the new Harbour Town Golf Links clubhouse was constructed of two levels of conventional structural steel over a conventional reinforced concrete podium slab spanning the golf cart parking area below. The clubhouse includes a living room lounge, terraces and covered porches, an elegant banquet and event room, signature pro shop, and a professional locker room.
In order to optimally design the structural steel to accommodate the open, airy spaces, a two-stage seismic analysis was performed, which allowed the design to consider a shorter effective height for the building. This translated into column and beam sizes that were architecturally acceptable, while maintaining the stiffness required to resist Category C seismic loads and forces resulting from 140 mph wind gusts.
