A high-end boutique hotel with a Southern design vernacular

The Perry Lane Hotel is a high-end boutique hotel with a distinctly Southern design vernacular, positioned to be a best-in-class property for travelers. The project was developed by Flank, who completed the renovation of Drayton Tower. The hotel features 168 guest rooms, a pool, meeting spaces, rooftop events space and retail and dining options. Tharpe Engineering Group provided structural design, construction documentation, and construction administration for this project. To accommodate the large clear span and to maximize floor-to-floor height, a post-tensioned concrete system was used.

The large and numerous exterior openings required an internal lateral force resisting system, comprised of the elevator and stair cores, which eliminated the need for exterior shear walls. A full height cellar level with parking extends beneath both towers and required temporary shoring of excavation and a phased construction of the cellar foundation walls. The intricate brick detailing required rigorous coordination with the architecture team in order to support arches and other expressions of the veneer. Additionally, a rooftop pool and steel framed event space are supported by the concrete building structure.
